Writing comedy relies on a range of techniques. What better way to see these come to life than through the editing choices made by comedy legend Sue Townsend as she re-worked her manuscripts?
Heide Goody and Iain Grant have written around 20 comedy novels, and were thrilled when they first saw the Adrian Mole manuscripts, realising that Sue Townsend’s thought processes very much echoed their own discussions as she made choices to sharpen the humour in her writing. They will talk through the tools that all comedy writers should have in their tool box. These techniques will be illustrated by examples from Sue Townsend’s work.
This will be part of the Everybody’s Reading Festival in Leicester
